BEING A TWIN

A lot of you might not know .. but I have a non-identical twin sister called Francesca (Chess for short). She was born a minute earlier than me and she likes to think she's the boss!!

Being a twin can have its ups and downs but for the most part - I honestly do love it! I thought I'd share with you today some of the good and bad things that come with being a twin.

Positives:
1. You have an instant best friend.
I know this sounds cliché, but having a twin really does mean that you always have a best friend from the very day you're born. My sister and I have had periods of our lives where we've been really close and then some where we've been distant, but since she moved away to New York this year, I miss her more than ever and although it sounds strange, I feel like we've actually grown closer.

2. I always had someone to play with growing up.
During school, I never had to worry about feeling lonely or making friends instantly because I knew I had Chess. I always had someone to hang out with and spend time with and I really don't know how I'd have coped without her.

3. You get to share one another's clothes!
This is one of my favourite things about being a twin. When we were younger we used to be the same dress size but have very different styles. If we bought different clothes, I could always steal the ones I liked that she'd bought (she didn't like my style so It was basically just be stealing all her clothes - Win Win situation!)

4. They've always got your back.
If I was ever sad or in an argument during school when we were growing up, I knew my sister would always be there to stand up for me and make everything better. I can't thank her enough for getting me through some tough times in school!!

5. I can tell my twin absolutely anything!
This is my favourite thing about being a twin. I know when people have best friends they say they can tell them anything, but you can never be too sure that they won't turn on you. I know for a fact that even though we sometimes argue, we'd never turn on one another and I trust her with my life. I tell her everything and even though she now lives across the other side of the world, that doesn't stop us from being there and supporting each other through tough times.

Negatives:
1. Some people forget that you're actually two separate people and send one birthday/Christmas card and present between both of us.
This happened so often when we were younger, but some people still don't realise at the age of 21 WE ARE TWO SEPARATE PEOPLE. It'd be nice to get a card each sometimes!!!

2. We fought a lot over toys we used to have to share.
When we were growing up it was a constant battle for toys and when my brother came along that only got worse!

3. You often find that your clothes and make up go missing and then you end up finding it in your twins bedroom.
My make up used to go missing ALL of the time. I was very much the beauty obsessed of the two when we were growing up, so I had a lot more make up! Slowly but surely, things just used to disappear. I knew that if I went into my sisters bedroom and searched high and low - I would find it, and I did!

There are a thousand more positives to being a twin and hardly any negatives. I love having my sister Chess as a twin and I miss her so much whilst she's in New York. Knowing I won't see her until Christmas is a horrible feeling, but I know she's only a face time away!

She is definitely my best friend and I couldn't ask for a better twin.

This post if for you chess! Love you from the UK to NYC!

Are any of you twins? Or do you know any twins that can relate to some of these good and bad traits?
