WORK SERIES: MY MORNING ROUTINE ON A WORK DAY

So now that it's the new year, I thought it'd be a good idea to do a post on my morning routine, but on a work day. I see loads of famous YouTubers and bloggers do post on their morning routines and I love watching them, but I don't feel as though it represents a normal working day of someone who works in an office 9-5, so I thought I'd show you mine!

Normally on a work day I'd set my first alarm for 7.00 am and then set an alarm every 15 minutes after that until I am due to leave the house (8.45 am). I find that this works for me because I find it extremely difficult to get up for work in the morning so having an alarm every 15 minutes prompts me to get out of bed and get on with things.

I usually spend from 7.00 am - 730 am in darkness browsing through my Facebook and twitter and reading blogposts in the mornings (and playing candy crush - I'm so obsessed!) Then I put on my light and tie up my hair and make an effort to get myself out of bed and ready for the day.

Before I have breakfast I like to put my dressing gown on and go to the bathroom to wash my face, cleanse and moisturise and do my teeth. I usually shower the night before so I don't have to worry about wasting time in the mornings. I then go and put on the TV and make my breakfast. I either make wholemeal marmalade toast or have cereal and a glass of orange juice or water and a cup of tea to start the day!

While I'm eating breakfast at 8.00am - 8.30am, I do my makeup. I don't usually make too much of an effort on a work day (I put on some foundation, do my brows, puts some mascara on and a little bit of contour before finishing it off with a nude lip - it takes me about 20 minutes!) Once I've had breakfast and done my makeup, I then put on my outfit - I choose it the night before so that I don't have to stress about in the morning! I then make my lunch for the day, pack my bag and walk to work. I aim to be out the door by 8.40am and then that gives me just under an hour to walk to the tram and get to work for 9.30am.

I have roughly an hour and a half to get ready and although I'm tired and lifeless I think it's fair to say I get a lot done - don't you think!?

What are your morning routines like?

  1. Hi What Katie

I am now a fan of your blogs - loving your work.

As a benchmark how long would it take you to put on your make up on a Saturday? Do you always have marmalade on Toast? What is a nude lip? Who is your fave person on Twitter is it me? Personally I think you get a lot done in the time allowed. Have a great Tuesday. Love 1MT
