Hey guys! I still cannot believe that last month I started my final year of university! It seems like just yesterday when I packed up both my parents' cars and drove down to Sheffield ready to move into halls for my first year. University has gone so so fast and I am dreading the fact that this is it now and I can see the end in sight!
I finally feel as though I'm a bit more organised and took an annual trip to wilko to pick up my new folders, pens and pencils! Now that I'm focused and ready to get my head down, I've started to think about some goals for my final year of University and thought I'd share them with you all today!
BE ORGANISED & KEEP GOOD TIME MANAGEMENT
I am generally quite an organised person and I like to know what I'm doing and when I'm doing it. This year I want to keep up my organisation as it's SO important for final year of Uni. I also want to ensure that I have good time management so that I can prepare work well in advance of deadlines and focus on important tasks by prioritising. I always have a diary with me and record all my deadlines and any work that needs doing when it's been set. I am also going to make a wall chart with assignment deadlines and modules too.
PREPARE FOR ASSIGNMENTS WELL IN ADVANCE
In first year I didn't put enough effort in and didn't prepare much in advance for my assignments, however in second year this improved drastically. My goal for final year is to start my assignments as soon as they're set and work on them over a long period of time to ensure that I can do the best possible assignment and get a good grade at the end of my degree. I also want to prepare in advance so that I can take the opportunity to meet with my tutors and ask them questions and for feedback.
TRY TO GO OUT LESS
Throughout first and second year I went out a lot, but this year is final year and the most important year of Uni so I've decided that I'm going to go out a lot less. I am aiming to go out a maximum of twice a week (unless it's someone's birthday week).
ATTEND ALL LECTURES AND SEMINARS
Yes, I am one of those students that has missed the odd lecture and seminar during first and second years of University, however this year is different. I've learnt that missing guest speakers in lectures is really not worth it when it comes to an assignment and you have nothing to refer to. I really want to do well this year and get the grade I know I deserve so I'm determined to make all lectures and seminars.
REVISE REVISE REVISE
I'm one of the lucky ones that hasn't had to do an exam that is actually worth part of your end mark yet during university, however this year we have one exam and I'm dreading it. I am really bad with exams. I get worked up and stressed and panic. This year I'm going to revise from the start. I will keep reading over my notes and make sure I ask questions if I don't understand. I know I can do it I just need to manage my time!
REFERENCE, REFERENCE, REFERENCE!
I am crap at referencing - well I didn't actually think I was that bad at it, but it turns out I've been referencing wrong all throughout University so now I've got to learn how to do it properly. My motto this year is to properly learn how to reference and then make sure I include lots of sources in my assignments so I can gain the best marks I can!
Are any of your lovely lot in your final year of University or any year of uni for that matter? Have any of you set yourselves goals? I'd love to know what goals you've set yourselves! Let me know in the comments below :)
