WHAT'S IN MY MAKEUP BAG? | THE FESTIVE EDITION

[This post contains gifted items]

We're officially well into the festive season now, which means the festive makeup has surfaced again. I absolutely LOVE this time of year. If you follow me on twitter you'll know how Christmassy I feel. Anyway, I love everything about the festive season, particularly the makeup so I thought with the work Christmas party coming up I would talk you through what's in my makeup bag during the festive season.

BASE
To start off my base I use my Benefit Porefessional Primer. This stuff is amazing. It has a balm like texture and makes your skin feel super soft. I love applying this before my makeup as it helps to minimise my pores and helps my makeup glide on.

For concealer I always reach for my trustee Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. I am obsessed with this stuff. It's part of my everyday makeup and even though I've tried numerous other concealers, I always go back to this one. It is really creamy and hides my under eye circles really well. I love this stuff - highly recommend.

I LOVE my Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation as my choice of foundation. It's a medium coverage, but it's buildable too and it honestly makes your skin look so flawless. I use my oval makeup brush to apply it and it blends really well. I particularly love wearing it for a night out as I've got a slightly darker shade but it looks amazing when I have a tan.

My contour powder of choice is from my Sleek contour kit. I love the colour of the powder as it's more of a dirty brown than a golden one. It applies really evenly and really helps to chisels my cheek bones (and makes me look a bit skinnier - always a winner eh?)

Putting on my favourite highlighters is probably one of my favourite parts of getting ready during the party season. I love the MUA illuminator because it's a liquid based product. It's so easy to apply and looks great applied before foundation all over the face if I'm after an extra glow, or just on top of the cheekbones so that when I take lots of selfies it hits the light perfectly. I also can't not include my all time favourite bronzing highlighter; MAC Gold Deposit. I literally LOVE this stuff. I wear it all the time during the summer months but it always makes a reappearance during the festivities. It looks fabulous applied over my contour just below the highlighter as it adds even more glow.

EYES

For brows, I always use my trustee Freedom Brow Pomade. I love this stuff. It's so easy to apply and makes my brows look full and sculpted (but still natural).

Eye makeup is my favourite part of the festive makeup - apart from my highlighters obviously! I love all the glittery shades and love playing around with different colours. Before applying my eye makeup I always apply my MUA primer base which helps my shadows to last without creasing.

I love wearing gold shimmery makeup during the festive season and always reach for my I Heart Makeup Eye shadow palette.I don't think I've ever bought anything else from this brand but I remember wandering through Superdrug about a year ago and this palette caught my eye. The colours are beautiful, I can't even describe how pigmented they are and they look amazing on the eyes. I like to spray my makeup brush with some setting spray before using the shades to make them stand out even more and the result is always stunning. I would highly recommend using this palette, and you get loads of different shades too; you've got the golds, burgundy, copper shades as well as blues, greens and silver. There is something for everyone. I particularly like the fact that there is some matte brown shades too, which helps create the perfect smokey eye.

For Mascara I use my favourite L'Oreal Paradise Mascara. This stuff is AMAZING, it lengthens my lashes so much and more importantly gives me that wispy effect rather than a thick clumpy look.
To perfect the glittery eye makeup I also like to apply some lashes. I normally always reach for my all time favourite Ardell Demi Wispies, but I've recently been loving KISS lashes too. These ones are called Midnight* and are really full and fluttery - perfect for a night out on the town. Whenever I apply lashes I always use my Duo lash glue because it's the best lash glue out there, I'd be lost without it! I also apply a small winged liner using my L'Oreal Super Liner.

LIPS
I feel like you can't really wear a festive makeup look without using a red lip colour, particularly with a gold eye makeup look. I don't really suit red lipstick as I have quite small lips, however I always find myself reaching for my Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in 107. This is the perfect grungy berry lip colour and I think it goes really well gold glittery makeup. As an alternative to this, I do tend to reach for my all time favourite ever lipstick; L'Oreal Colour Riche in shade 604 Erotique. I don't think they sell it anymore in the satin shade, only the matte (which makes me SO sad), but it's the perfect pinky nude shade and looks stunning on the lips. I like to use my MAC Whirl Lip Liner to line my lips first, then apply the lipstick over the top. It's the most beautiful combination. I'll have to hunt the lipstick down because I'll be so sad if I can't get another one!!

What are your top festive party makeup picks? I'd love to know your favourites so I can get myself to Boots to buy more glittery bits.
