MAKEUP FOR A DAY AT THE RACES

[This post contains gifted items]

If you don't follow me on Instagram, you won't know that last week I went to Aintree Grand National Races which is an annual event in our family!! It's always such a fun occasion and I love getting all dressed up and enjoying a few glasses of fizz in the sun. Jay and I were also very lucky with our bets too so we had the best time! I thought today I'd share with you my makeup that I wore on the day and share what products I used too.

BASE

I suffer with dry skin so wanted to make sure my skin looked dewy and hydrated and didn't emphasize the dry patches on my face so I opted for a mix of primer and strobe cream from Primark to give my face some hydration before adding my foundation. I used the Vitamin gel primer for the first time and I love it. It's got a thick texture and it's so refreshing on the skin. The strobe cream is a bronzy shade and is really nice under foundation to give you that extra glow!

For foundation I mixed a few different brands as I wanted to get the perfect colour to match my tan and also make sure I had full coverage and no flashback! I used my current favourite Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation because I love how glowy it makes the skin however as the coverage isn't very full I mixed it with my Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation (which is very dark as I bought the wrong shade) and my other favourite foundation, the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation - *full review here* (which is too pale for when I have a tan!) I also used a little bit of my Maybelline Dream Satin as it's again another really nice glowy base and makes my skin look flawless.

For concealer I used my Revolution Fast Base Concealer which is amazing. It covers all my dark circles and redness on the skin and blends really well. I also used my Collection concealer for under the eyes which is another holy grail product of mine.

For contour I always use my holy grail Sleek Contour Kit which has a deep contour and soft highlight shade. It's great for giving you that bit of colour and structure. I also used the MUA Highlighter in a gorgeous champagne gold shade and mixed this with my MAC Golden Deposit to give the skin that extra tanned glow.

EYES

For the eyes I went with a gold ombre look and used my Revolution Flawless 4 Palette. I used the brown/neutral shades for transition colours in the crease and then used the dark bronzy shimmer and gold shimmers to fade out an ombre look. I also used my Primark Eye Glitter in the gold shade on top of this and in the inner corner.

For Mascara I used a mix of my Primark Mascara with the Too Faced Better Than Sex *which is so good for volume* and added my new Bewitched Lashes* in style Rosabell which are a beautiful thick lashes and look amazing for a big occasion. They're definitely not every day lashes but I will be wearing them on future nights out because they really complete a look. I would be aware that they are slightly too long on me so I had to trim them down but they look beautiful! You can use code Katie10 for 10% off all orders site wide.

On my brows I used my trustee Revolution brow pomade which I use every single day and have done for over a year. It's such a brilliant affordable product that keeps my brows in place looking full and defined but not fake.

LIPS

On the lips I went for my "go to" lip combo which is my MAC Spice Lip Liner with MAC honey love lipstick on top. I also used the Primark Lip Lacquer in a nude shade on top.

So there you have it, my makeup for a day at the Races! I had the best day ever with my favourite people and loved getting all dressed up! I already can't wait for next years event! Have you ever been to the races before?
