HOW TO PLAN YOUR BLOG CONTENT

Since the start of 2019 I've felt more inspired than ever before with my blog. I've been trying really hard to produce posts that you enjoy reading and that may help you in some way too so today I thought there was no better time than to share with you how I plan my blog content in order to avoid writers block.

One of my favourite parts of blogging is planning my content. I love nothing more than sitting down with a cup of tea and jotting down all my ideas on paper. I find that the best way to plan my content is by doing it month by month. At the beginning of each month I sit down and I write down my stats from the previous month before then planning out my content going forward. I like to look at what has worked in terms on engagement/views and what events I have coming up that month to see if there is any posts I can tie in (i.e a blogger event or trip away etc).

Each month I think it's really important to set some blogging goals. Whether that's number of followers/engagement on instagram or simply how many times you produce a post. Make them realistic, but challenge yourself and then when you get to the next month to review your stats, you can review your goals too and set new ones.

I have a blogging notebook which I use to jot down any post ideas on the go and I use colour categories to allocate them into Lifestyle, Beauty, Fashion, Food & Fitness and Travel. I like to have this on me at all times in case I'm suddenly inspired on a train journey or if I'm reading one of my favourite blogs and want to create a post reviewing the same product etc. I also like to have my notebook for when I'm scrolling on social media/pintrest and am inspired by the photography too. I do a lot of pinning on pintrest so this is often a place of inspiration for me.

For my monthly planning I use my blogging diary which is used solely to plan out my 2 posts a week for the month. I will usually sit down and have a look at my blog post ideas list and then pick out the posts I want to write for the month ahead, baring in mind any trips away or AD's I'm aware of. When planning by month, it's a great way to also identify any holidays/seasons coming up (for example I may decide to do some gift guides at Christmas or some spring related beauty posts etc). For inspiration during the seasons and holidays I use the mind map technique and write down any posts I feel fit in with the season or holiday.

Once I've sat down and identified what content I want to create, I then make a list of what I want to cover in each post and what photos I want to take. I always find taking the photos the hardest part as I never seem to find the time to get it down and always end up being last minute! To try and avoid that, I make a list of the props I'll need for the photos and then try and plan in a photography day each week or once a fortnight to take my photos.

How do you plan your blog content? If you have any other tips, I'd love to know! You can never be too organised!
