A SUNDAY BLOGGERS BRUNCH AT COMPTOIR LIBANAIS LEEDS

[This post contains gifted items]

Last Sunday, I attended my first ever Leeds Bloggers social event with a small group of local bloggers. I've been to blogging events in the past but never something with the local Leeds bloggers so I was really looking forward to meeting a few friendly faces and getting to know everyone. The brunch was organised by the lovely Kathryn from the blog Kathryn Loves and after a few set backs with finding a venue we settled on Comptoir Libanais. Unfortunately Kathryn was unwell the night before the brunch so wasn't able to make it but I just wanted to say a big thank you to her for her hard work in organising it all! I had such a lovely time and it was the perfect way to spend a Sunday morning. She also organised for us to all receive some goodies from various amazing brands which I am so thankful for and can't wait to share with you what I got from the team at Catalyst PR!

The bloggers brunch was hosted at Comptoir Libanais; a Lebanese restaurant situated in the heart of the Everyman Cinema at Trinity Leeds. It was the perfect central location and something a bit different as I'd never actually tried a Lebanese restaurant before (although we had brunch which probably wasn't the most authentic!) Anyway, let's talk about the restaurant itself. The decor is so bright and colourful and there are lots of patterns on the walls. It's really cool because everything you see on the shelves etc can actually be bought too which is something a bit different. The bags would make the perfect beach bag for a summer holiday!

The restaurant is a medium size but has a cafe style feel to it. It's definitely not somewhere I'd probably go to for a date night when I want to get all dressed up but I can imagine the ambiance would be nice during the evenings if you're popping in for something more casual.

As we were there for brunch we decided to order some drinks and a bite to eat off their breakfast menu. I chose to have a Frozen Lemonade (which was SO good) and the Avocado, Feta and Tomato Brioche. First off, let me tell you something, the frozen lemonade was so so nice! It tasted so fresh and would be the perfect drink in the summer! The food itself was really tasty too. I wouldn't say my choice is necessarily Lebanese cuisine but it tasted great anyway and that's the main thing. There was quite a range of things on offer with their breakfast menu and although I didn't think I'd be much of a fan of the Lebanese food, there were surprisingly so many things on the menu that caught my eye.

We spent a few hours chatting all things blogging, social media and Yorkshire and got to know one another a bit more. Honestly, time flew by as we were all having so much fun catching up and chatting about what we all love. It's so nice when you get to meet lovely people who enjoy doing this blogging thing too and considering I came to Leeds knowing no one when Jay and I moved here after University, it's great to now start to build a group of friends in the city!

When we all departed ways, I nipped to some shops to get my last minute summer holiday bits before I jet off to Soller on Friday (I'm so excited) and I picked up a fair few things which I'm sure I'll share on Instagram or on my blog in the next few weeks! I then got home and ran straight to my boyfriend to show him all my goodies! (I'm sure he was really interested and would be able to tell you all exactly what was in the goody bags because he was listening so intently and not playing on the XBox but I'll share them with you all now anyway, haha).

During the blogger brunch, Emma from Catalyst PR talked us through the different products in the goody bag. There were so many things from brands I've heard of before but never tried and some that I didn't even know existed. I love trying new products and discovering new brands so this is perfect. We got a mixture of hair and beauty products from the team as their clients are all within that industry and of course you know I'm obsessed with makeup so I was very excited! The first things I noticed in the bag were x2 foundations; both from brands I've always wanted to try. One is the famous Milani Conceal and Perfect Foundation and the other is an LA Girl HD Coverage one. The LA Girl one is slightly dark for me but It might work on holiday when I've got a bit of a tan so I'll give it a whirl. I'm very excited to try the Milani one though. I've tried their baked blushers before and loved them!

We also received a variety of face masks from brands I've never tried before. I got two sheet masks from Biocell, a Unicorn glitter dust peel off mask from Star Dust, a Neem Tea Tree face mask and some Iroha Charcoal strips. This weekend I've been doing my holiday beauty prep before I go on Friday and I tried out one of the sheet masks and I've got to say it felt very soothing on the skin and made it feel very hydrated. These would be perfect if you were going on a long haul flight!

From the team at Great Lengths we got some pop bands which I've never tried before but are so handy to put on your wrist and they don't damage your hair either which is fab. We also got some mini travel sized shampoo, conditioner and heat protector spray which have gone straight in my holiday toiletries bag and will come in so handy on my upcoming holiday! I've never tried anything from Great Lengths but their extensions are amazing and seeing a sample of their new tapes I am now tempted to get some more put back in!

Another brand that I am very excited to try out is Flormar as I've heard good things about their lip liners I got one in a burgundy shade which is going to be AMAZING during Autumn/Winter. We also got their new facial mist spray too, which is a little bit different as it's a spray aerosol not a spritz like most other mists. I love facial sprays for setting my makeup but they are also so refreshing for holidays too so that's another thing going straight in my suitcase!

The most exciting item in the goody bag for me was probably the fake tan. As you know, I'm a lover of being bronzed and can't wait to give this a go before an upcoming wedding in a few weeks! I got the shade light - medium so it'll be interesting to see what the colour is like!

Dr Paw Paw is another brand I've heard a lot about but never tried any of their products so I was excited when I saw their famous balm in an orange/coral shade which will be perfect during the summer months!

I was on the hunt for a small travel size fragrance for my holiday in a few weeks and wanted something light but that leaves the scent on the skin for a good amount of time. I have heard of Yardley fragrances before but I've always thought there were more for the older ladies but I sprayed the English Dahlia one at the event and OMG I love it. I'm so excited to take this away and use it every day!!

Thank you once again to Kathryn and the lovely Emma at Catalyst PR who gifted us these items, I cannot wait to try them all out! Also a big thank you to Comptoir Libanais in Leeds for hosting the brunch and all the lovely Leeds bloggers whose links are below!
