A couple of weeks ago, Jay and I adopted our little ball of fluff; Darcy. We have always been cat people and couldn't wait to welcome a fury friend into the family but we knew how important it was to adopt and not shop! For anyone thinking about getting a cat or a dog to welcome into the family, here is 5 reasons why you should rescue your new best friend.

1. Because you'll save a life and give animals a second chance at life.
When you adopt your pet, you could be saving them from a previous horrible owner or an unsafe living environment. We found our cat on a stray cats adoption site and she'd be found in the Royal Mail depot with her litter of kittens. She was vulnerable and timid but she's the perfect cat and we wouldn't have her any other way. She is just like any other cat, very loving and affectionate too.

2. Because you'll help other animals too.
When we rescued Darcy, we not only saved Darcy but also her kittens too. By rescuing Darcy, we also freed up a space for another cat to be rescued too so we've helped to save more cats. Our adoption donation also goes towards providing the right care and equipment for the adoption centre.

3. There are so many fury friends to choose from.
By going to visit an adoption shelter or foster home for your potential pets, you will get to meet a range of animals. You may fall in love with one you totally didn't expect to, or be drawn to some who come in pairs. You never know which ones might take your heart.

4. There’s a wide variety of cats to adopt.
You can find any type of cat you want at a shelter, from kittens to adult cats, short-haired to long-haired, there really is something for everyone.

5. Cats provide so much love.
We all want to be loved, and pets are no different. Some of the animals in these pet shelters have been abused; have endured hunger and loneliness; and are anxiously waiting to love and be loved in return. Cats are so affectionate and loving and all the cats I've had have always known when I'm sad and cuddled up to me to make me feel better. They really are the perfect fury friend.

Are you a cat person or do you prefer dogs? Whatever pet you want in your life, always adopt and don't shop.
ReplyDeleteThat s a great post. I totally agree with you. My cat well...I got him 7 years ago from a shelter in London, best decision ever. At the time he was not a kitten but between 3-5 years old ( no one know how old he is actually) never mind . He s part of the family.
Darcy looks adorable. My cat is call Pumpsey and he s black and white too.
